Persimmon 'Fuyu' (Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu') is the most popular non-astringent persimmon, producing flat, tomato-shaped, bright orange fruits with crisp, sweet flesh. Unlike astringent varieties, 'Fuyu' can be eaten while still firm. Available in a #5 container. Full sun. Moderate water; drought-tolerant once established. Well-draining soil; adaptable to various soil types. Self-fertile. Prune lightly in late winter. One of the easiest persimmons to grow. Excellent for fresh eating, salads, and drying.
