Persimmon 'Tanenashi' (Diospyros kaki 'Tanenashi') is an astringent Japanese persimmon producing large, conical, seedless orange fruits. It must be fully ripe (soft) before eating to eliminate astringency. A reliable and productive variety for Florida. Available in a #5 container. Full sun. Moderate water; drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering during fruit development. Well-draining, deep soil; tolerates clay. Self-fertile. Minimal pruning needed. Fruit ripens in fall. Allow fruit to soften fully on or off the tree before eating.
