Impatiens Double Rose Buds 10" Basket Care Guide

Introduction

Impatiens Double 'Rose Buds' (Impatiens walleriana 'Double Rose Buds') is a classic shade-loving annual producing fully double, rose-like flowers in shades of pink, red, coral, and white. It is an easy warm-season plant that performs well in Florida's spring and fall seasons and is ideal for shaded gardens and containers. Available in a 10-inch basket.

Growing conditions

• Light: Partial shade to full shade; protect from direct afternoon sun.
• Water: Moderate to high; keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
• Soil: Well-draining, fertile soil with good organic matter.
• Fertilizer: Balanced slow-release fertilizer at planting; liquid fertilizer monthly during the growing season.
• Season: Warm-season annual; performs best in Florida's spring and fall.

Planting tips

Plant in a shaded, well-drained location. Excellent for shaded borders, containers, and hanging baskets. Keep soil consistently moist; impatiens wilt quickly when dry. In Florida, plant in fall or early spring to avoid summer heat stress. The double flowers add a lush, romantic quality to shaded gardens.

Troubleshooting

Wilting

Underwatering or too much direct sun. Water immediately and move to a shadier location.

Impatiens downy mildew

Leaves curl downward and plants collapse. Remove affected plants immediately; do not replant impatiens in the same spot.

Spider mites

Fine webbing on leaves in dry conditions. Increase humidity and treat with insecticidal soap.

Pet safety

Impatiens are non-toxic to pets and are generally considered safe around dogs and cats.
