Care requirements
Light: Full sun, 6+ hours daily. Water: Moderate; keep soil evenly moist. Soil: Rich, well-draining. Fertilizer: Balanced at planting; low-nitrogen high-potassium once flowering. Season: Warm-season; plant after last frost.
Planting tips
Start seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before transplanting. Space 18 inches apart. Harvest pods when bright green and 3 to 4 inches long. Shishito is excellent blistered in a hot pan with olive oil and sea salt.
Pet safety
Mild capsaicin present. Keep pets away from plants and fruits.
